Support for same-sex marriage has risen across all religious groups in recent years, including among white evangelicals and black Protestants. Opinions about the obstacles facing women are divided along gender lines, but the partisan gap is wider than the gender gap. The results of the Harvard study are remarkably similar to a Pew Research Center survey that found a nearly identical number 58 percent of LGBT people who said they had been subjected to slurs or jokes based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
